New ‘Chat Cancer’ Podcast Launched by Warrington Voluntary Action to Boost Cancer Screening Awareness

Warrington Voluntary Action has launched a new podcast series, Chat Cancer, in collaboration with Ludovico Media and Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance.

The podcast aims to boost participation in NHS cancer screenings, focusing on breast, bowel and cervical cancers, while also raising awareness of the new Targeted Lung Health Checks being introduced across the region.

We all know that receiving a cancer screening invitation can be a nerve-wracking experience. Fear, embarrassment and even negative past experiences can sometimes prevent people from taking the step. But early detection is key as it increases the chances of successful treatment by catching cancer in its earliest stages, sometimes even before symptoms appear.

The Chat Cancer podcast aims to break down these barriers by encouraging open and honest conversations about NHS screenings and lung health checks.

Throughout the podcast, listeners will hear from real people, in lively and informal discussions designed to demystify the screening process. The goal is simple: to make the topic of cancer screenings less daunting, and in doing so, encourage more people to take part.

Are you a Warrington resident with a personal experience of cancer or cancer screenings? Or are you passionate about raising awareness of the importance of early detection? The Chat Cancer podcast is looking for engaging and relatable guests to join in for a series of four episodes. These will focus on NHS screenings for bowel, breast, and cervical cancers, as well as lung health checks.

The podcast is designed for the Warrington community, by Warrington people. Whether you’re currently living with cancer, have valuable insights to share, or want to help break down the stigma around screenings, your contribution could inspire others to take action.

If you’d like to be a part of this podcast, recording will take place on Sunday, 27th October in Mamars, Warrington town centre. To apply, fill out the short form here, sharing your experience and reasons for wanting to participate. Alternatively, you can send a video via WhatsApp to 07734 113882, explaining why you’d like to get involved.
